CAR RENTAL OR DRIVER

Car rental or hire a driver? We were going to rent 3 cars for our trip. But after some consideration on possibly getting lost and having this caravan of 3 cars we opted for hiring a driver. I recommend this for large groups.

Car Rental - Rent your car before you arrive in Tuscany. It is much cheaper. If you have to get a vehicle, Italy has all the major car agencies. Keep in mind a few things:

1. Before you travel obtain an International License. We got ours through Triple A or ask your insurance agent.

2. You must be over 21.

3. Must be licensed for a least 1 year.

4. Agreement should include: Collision damages waiver, Breakdown service and Insurance against theft.

Discuss this also with your insurance agent before you leave.

Hiring a Driver - Your hotel can recommend drivers. They usually have a list. You can pay for the day or longer. It is customary to tip your driver 15%.

If your not staying at a hotel the local tourist office also has lists of Drivers to hire.
