Renting a Villa in Tuscany

VILLA, FARMHOUSES & APARTMENTS

RENTING A VILLA OR FARMHOUSE - Finding the right villa or farmhouse depends on what you are looking for. We stayed at a villa. It was beautiful and the owners were very accommodating and helpful.

Villas and farmhouses offer a personal touch. They will sometimes cook for you and have cooking lessons, teach useful language tips, tell you what‘s available locally. Great local restaurants, groceries, churches, etc.. It was very relaxing to go back to the villa at the end of the day. They are usually rented by the week and longer. Some farmhouse rentals are working farmhouses or vineyards, so you are staying with other people. The working farmhouses give you an experience in Italian culture.

APARTMENTS - Apartment rental is just like the villas. You can cook, do your laundry visit like you live there. There are long and short term rentals. Some of the apartments are converted castles. You may give up some luxuries, like air conditioning, due to the age of the buildings.

Two other options that I have read about were B & B’s and mountain huts.

There are hundreds to choose from. There are over 1600 farmhouses in Italy. Contact Tuscany Regional Tourist Board for a published listing. Each region has its own Agriturist office for rental information. Or each towns local tourist office.
